For example, there are two locations both with the same physical properties. Let’s say there is a staged barn in Manhattan—we’ll call it a gallery—and real barn in Ohio. The difference is that the space of the barn in Ohio is only capturing content from the outside while the gallery in Manhattan is only capturing from the inside. So all of this content is collapsed into a digital space where from the gallery in Manhattan you look outside the window and see the landscape of Ohio.
VIVIAN: So at that point, it’s almost like collapsing representation, where each object isn’t functioning as a representation for another but is creating a new hybrid space.
JESSE: It’s reality without the reality.
VIVIAN: It’s taking two visual streams and creating something new.
JESSE: It’s creating a new reality.
